how you would visualize hurricanes

In July 2017 Cole Nussbaumer Knaflic published in her blog “storytelling with data” a chart form “the Economist” asking “how you would visualize hurricanes?” .

In October (http://www.storytellingwithdata.com/blog/2017/10/1/how-youd-visualize-hurricanes) she presented the results. 

For the data visualizer it is very interesting to analyse the different approaches. We can observe, that the presentations concentrate nowadays on how to show the facts and tend to be more analytical. Maybe because of the scientific theme glitter and gimmicks fortunately disappeared. But most of the charts because of their scientific approach seem to take more time to fully understand the content. In an economic journal like “the Economist” in a first step a more simpler presentation than the proposed ones could have been more readable.
